Statement In connection to the theme of the exhibition I further explored random and structured natural textures that resembles the open and closed forms of lace and other qualities of lace as softening edges and transitions , transparency and revealing/hiding.
By collecting and choosing natural materials for their lace-like quality and through further manipulation and layering complex textures and patterns are formed. Especially the fine flax fiber ( traditionally used in Flanders to make linen thread to make lace) inspired me to experiment within the controlled process of printing to create images that reflect on life rhythms, natural beauty and the female dialog with nature.
