As an artist-printmaker, Keller takes inspiration from the premise that as individuals, we are each differently attuned to the natural landscape, yet as humans we share a common bond to the natural world, without which we could not survive.
In this print series she explores the question of how artistic engagement with a landscape begins and ends. Her work aims to go beyond a picturesque representation of an actual landscape to embody more philosophical reflections on the constant fleeting experiences we have in relation to the natural world.
Keller created these prints from found and collected natural materials, which she chose for their intricate patterns and textures. The materials are printed, layered, and constructed in combination with relief and etching techniques, all of which act to transform the viewer’s experience into new ways of discovering nature.
By presenting the larger work in a panoramic format, Keller’s landscapes frame a journey through an imaginary territory of ideal reflection. Her interpretations are aesthetically rich and highly detailed, leaving an impression in the mind of viewer that should invoke feelings of awe, respect, and connectedness to nature.
